What Sets The Piano Doctor Apart Regarding Grand Piano Tuning?

I studied at the Piano Technology Department of the Northern Metropolitan Institute of Technology in Melbourne from 1987 to 1989 and was taught by Wayne Stuart of Stuart & Sons. I started The Piano Doctor in 1990 and offer my clients years of experience.
  • If you’re a concert musician who plays your grand piano for six to eight hours a day, your instrument should be tuned every three months, and if you play your piano about three hours daily it should preferably be adjusted twice a year. Your instrument will require a professional tuning once a year if you play it for two to eight hours per week and once every eighteen months if it is used once a month.
  • Grand piano strings sound clearer if they are tuned to concert pitch (A=440Hz). Keep in mind that a significant rise in pitch − a full tone, for instance – can negatively affect your piano’s tuning stability. Local professionals suggest that you correct pitch concerns before it reaches that point as it affects your piano’s faculty to sound in harmony with other instruments.
  • I work on all makes and models yet focus on Lindahl, Steinway, Richard Lipp, Blüthner, Kawai, and Yamaha, servicing all Melbourne districts from Mondays to Fridays.
Call me to find out when I will next be in your area. I take care of piano tuning and also do piano restorations, repairs, and maintenance.
